An artist creates a rendition of what could be a special-edition Xbox Series X based on Ubisoft's just-revealed Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

p>Ubisoft made waves all across the internet today with the official announcement of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, complete with a cinematic trailer and release window. Though there will not be any gameplay footage put out until the Inside Xbox event on Thursday, May 7, fans already seem to be overwhelmingly excited to see the long-running franchise tackle the era of Vikings.

While the game will be playable on current consoles, Ubisoft has also confirmed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be on next-generation hardware: Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X. One British fan who goes by XboxPope on Twitter channeled their excitement for the Valhalla world premiere by creating a mock-up of what could be a special-edition Xbox Series X complete with a turquoise-marbled exterior and the axe-emblazoned game logo on the front.

The look is impressive and has garnered lots of attention on both Twitter and Instagram, where XboxPope has previously posted a number of custom Xbox console and controller designs for other titles like Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 or CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. A Twitter user named Craig Penfold commented on how quick the Valhalla design was put together considering Ubisoft only announced its world premiere yesterday, to which XboxPope jokingly replied, "That's why I only have the one child."

Special-edition game consoles are a fairly common marketing practice for developers and console manufacturers, so it would make sense to see at least one come out for a high-profile title like Assassin's Creed Valhalla. One PS4 owner was even given a free game after sending their God of War-edition console in for repairs due to a delay because of the coronavirus pandemic.

At least from its initial reveal trailer, Assassin's Creed Valhalla promises to be a spectacle of a game to behold. While Assassin's Creed: Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey were somewhat big departures for the series mechanics, Valhalla appears to be bringing back things like the hidden blade and nautical combat, all couched in historically-accurate systems like Viking rap battles.

While there is a deluge of news hitting the Internet now, fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise will likely have to wait a while longer before hearing about the prospects of special edition console releases. In the meantime, XboxPope offers a very tantalizing rendition of an Assassin's Creed Valhalla Xbox Series X, which makes sense given their history actually working alongside the Xbox Live team to make controller designs.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla releases Holiday 2020 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
