After rumors began circulating last week, Blizzard teases fans with a short video seemingly confirming that Diablo 3 is headed to the Nintendo Switch.

p>After being in development for over 10 years, Diablo 3 has had quite the rollercoaster journey. While things started off poorly due to major server issues, stingy loot, and an auction house which undermined many core gameplay moments, Blizzard was able to turn the experience around with continuous updates and a well received expansion pack called Reaper of Souls. The company also hasn't been shy about porting the game to other platforms like the PS4 and Xbox One. It seems the game is likely heading to another popular console if the mysterious Tweet from Blizzard Entertainment is to be believed.

The Tweet in question seems innocent enough with a message of sweet dreams and a creepy Diablo head nightlight that would surely give any small child nightmares. The tease comes in quickly as a hand begins to switch the light on and off, which many have begun to speculate is actually a tease for the Nintendo Switch.

Blizzard surprised a lot of people after it successfully ported Diablo 3 to the consoles first on the Xbox 360 and PS3, then to their console successors with the Xbox One and PS4. Part of the struggle was actually figuring out how to recreate the UI and controls to be more friendly to console players who were controller bound instead of keyboard and mouse. Smart tweaks to the inventory system and controls as well as the addition of a dodge roll mechanic helped make the console version of the game just as appealing as its PC cousin.

No doubt, people are excited for a Switch version for the prospect of taking the addictive dungeon crawler on the go. While this is the first official tease from Blizzard, the rumors regarding Diablo 3 on the Switch actually began last week from Marcus Sellars on Twitter. While Sellars posted that the Switch version wouldn't be available until 2019, the big reason is that Blizzard is implementing local play which would let multiple Switches connect to local wireless connection. Certainly an enticing feature if ultimately true.

Diablo 3 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
