Fans of the Castlevania series have been waiting for quite some time for any new news from Konami, and it looks like a new mobile title is on the way.

p>Castlevania is getting a brand new game in the series for the first time in a long time, but not quite in the traditional sense. A new Castlevania game is headed to mobile, and it looks and sounds pretty darn cool.

As far as core Castlevania experiences go, the games have been few and far between lately. The heyday of Castlevania was probably during the handheld era with the Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS, along with the NES and Super Nintendo era. Other than mobile titles, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was the most recent game to launch, and it did so in 2014. So fans are eager to get another bloody taste of the series, and that may finally be the case.

Twitter user Daniel Amhad was one of the first to break the story, and the video that comes with his tweet is intriguing. It seems that Chinese games company Shengqu Games will work with Konami to create Moonlight Rhapsody, the Castlevania mobile title. Not to be confused with Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, a co-op mobile game, Moonlight Rhapsody is an action game that looks similar to the original console games.

The trailer shows that Moonlight Rhapsody may have deeper and more complex gameplay than some mobile titles, and the music is beautiful. The Castlevania series has always had some of the best soundtracks in gaming, so it's great to see Moonlight Rhapsody continue with that.

Even if it's just a mobile game, it's encouraging to see Konami continue to work on new titles. Konami needs some good press, as fans continue to lose hope in the once-powerful publisher. Recently Konami dropped the promising Fox Engine, and continues to only work on casino games and mobile titles. But while Moonlight Rhapsody falls in line with what Konami has done for a while now, it looks like it could be fun.

Shengqu Games, the team working with Konami, is a well-known Chinese developer, as it has worked on Fallout Shelter Online and other well-received titles. The final result that is Moonlight Rhapsody has the potential to be fun, and perhaps it could lead to Castlevania making a return to home consoles.
