Bethesda officially reveals the first Doom Eternal campaign DLC in the form of The Ancient Gods: Part 1, which takes place after the main story.

p>Doom Eternal has so far been one of the highest-rated games of 2020, earning widespread acclaim and being hailed as one of the best first-person shooter games ever made by many critics. With Doom Eternal reviews being so overwhelmingly positive, it's no surprise that fans are hungry for more, and luckily, id Software is ready to deliver just that. The first Doom Eternal campaign DLC has been announced at QuakeCon 2020 with an exciting teaser trailer.

Entitled The Ancient Gods: Part 1, the Doom Eternal campaign DLC will have the Doomslayer traveling to new locations and fighting off various threats in an effort to restore balance to the heavens. The teaser trailer is admittedly light on details, but luckily, fans don't have to wait too much longer to find out more information.

A full reveal trailer for the Doom Eternal DLC will be released at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, hosted by Summer Game Fest and taking place on August 27 at 2pm ET. It's possible that this presentation will include release date information, but it's hard to say at this point what all it will entail. While they wait for Gamescom 2020's Opening Night Live event to roll around, fans can check out the teaser trailer to get a look at some of the first gameplay footage of the highly-anticipated Doom Eternal campaign DLC.

Meanwhile, there is plenty of other new content in the works for Doom Eternal besides The Ancient Gods: Part 1 expansion. In addition to more story DLC being in development, it's also been confirmed that fans can look forward to some new DLC for the BattleMode multiplayer as well. This will include a ranked competitive mode as well as new maps and other features, though id Software stopped short of providing specifics at this time.

The Doom Eternal DLC reveal was arguably the biggest reveal Bethesda had in store for fans at QuakeCon 2020. The event also touched on things like the upcoming PS5 game Deathloop and the new Stonethorn expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online, but otherwise it was fairly quiet compared to other big gaming events that have taken place this summer. It seems Bethesda fans will have to wait until 2021 or later if they hope to see the company's Starfield or Elder Scrolls 6 games.

While some fans may have been disappointed by the lack of major new announcements during Bethesda's QuakeCon at Home eventDoom Eternal fans are likely just happy that they will be getting more campaign content at some point later this year.

Doom Eternal is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
