A little over a month after Elden Ring’s release, developer FromSoftware has announced the first piece of DLC that will be coming to the open world game. All players will gain access to a new, downloadable boss fight that will see them throwing down with a fearsome new foe.
On April 1st, FromSoftware revealed that Lord Will is set to join the pantheon of Elden Ring bosses as a downloadable add-on. Also known as the “Fresh Prince,” Will is described as one of the most challenging bosses that FromSoftware has ever created. Lord Will is so strong, in fact, that even the ruling body known as “The Academy” was unable to unseat Lord Will.
FromSoftware always wants to keep its bosses a surprise, and that has proven to be the case with Elden Ring throughout much of its promotion. However, Game Rant has been provided an exclusive screenshot of Lord Will in action, highlighting his signature fighting style.
Descriptions for Lord Will explain that he rules with an iron hand that is capable of creating a deafening silence throughout the Lands Between. Elden Ring’s boss designs tend to favor outrageous attacking styles, but even this DLC boss is seemingly bringing something unexpected to the table. Some might say it is outside of Lord Will’s character.
Players that have downloaded the DLC boss will be able to find Lord Will in an area known as the Bell’s Heir. It might not be clear at first where Lord Will is, but make no mistake, he will approach the player whether they expect it or not and challenge them with a mighty strike.
As the lore behind Lord Will explains, he is known colloquially as the “Fresh Prince” within the world of Elden Ring. A nephew of the great judge Phil, Lord Will has a lineage that is modest in its roots but eventually, he becomes royalty. He is also very deceptive, capable of immersing himself in a number of roles, from a great fighter to a legendary bard.
Although Elden Ring is already an extremely dense game filled with a number of quests, side quests, and optional bosses to undertake, few would scoff at the opportunity to get a little more out of FromSoftware’s game. Elden Ring is already a strong contender for Game of the Year and Lord Will’s addition is likely to give it a little bit more credibility come “Awards Season.”
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
