Graphical upscaling is the gaming industry standard these days, and it looks like Escape From Tarkov will be one of the latest to receive it.

p>In this modern era of video games, graphical fidelity is becoming more and more important, with a lot of the industry focusing on new technologies to enhance visuals. With AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 on the way and Nvidia still delivering its own Deep Learning Super Sampling equivalent to many titles, upscaling resolutions using AI is fast becoming the standard for gaming. Sometimes upscaling can happen after the fact, and that goes for the likes of Battlestate Games' Escape From Tarkov which will be getting the update soon.

According to a recent report from WCCFTech, the PC multiplayer FPS is due to receive Nvidia's DLSS, which may be coming to Escape From Tarkov this week. It goes on to say that there will be four upscaling options for players once the update goes live. These will range from disabling DLSS all together to having either quality, balanced, or performance-based upscaling. Speaking during a Twitch stream, CEO Nikita Buyanov said that this update has "passed the testing phase," and a demonstration of DLSS in action can be seen in the video around the 30-minute mark.

There's also the possibility that the game will be getting AMD's FSR tech, which works in a similar way to DLSS. However, it's likely that this will be much further down the line. Known for being one of the most brutal survival games in the current market, Escape From Tarkov has received positive reviews. It was originally released as an open beta in 2016, but moved to a closed beta in July 2017 that is available to anybody who preorders the game.

There are numerous ways that studios can enhance the graphics of their games that go beyond the actual design and high-quality texture phase, with upscaling being one of the most common methods that can be employed to help improve clarity without putting more strain on hardware. Ray tracing is another video game standard, which was also being planned for Escape From Tarkov back in January.

With games like Red Dead Redemption 2 using Nvidia's DLSS, many developers and publishers are finding its implementation a necessary step in the development cycle, even if it comes after launch day in the form of a patch. Redrawing pixels onscreen to increase resolution so that it's comparable to doing so natively allows the game to run at a higher framerate, with sharper imagery, using algorithms. Even in a punishing game like Escape From Tarkov, the studio seems to understand the importance of visual clarity. Hopefully, there will be more word about FSR at some point.

Escape From Tarkov is currently in Early Access on PC.
