Nobody plays MLB The Show 22 to stay in a farm system forever. Don't get stuck playing small ball! Get to the main stage in season one.

p>Does it feel like getting called up to the major leagues is taking forever in MLB The Show 22's Road To The Show? That's not an uncommon experience. It seems like there are shadowy dealings on par with actual baseball that showcase how bad luck can get a player settling in as a backup for life.

There is actually a far more mechanical explanation for why this happens. Those who have played MLB The Show 22 before are familiar with this process but those who are in the dark can easily play for hundreds of hours without ever getting the call.

How It Works

MLB ball clubs will consider calling up the player when they are the highest-rated player in their franchise at a given position. After a player has surpassed the starter, they'll get called up. This is slightly easier for starting pitchers, who only need to be high enough to get a spot in the starting rotation.

Xbox Game Pass knocked it out of the park in April (pun intended). But this will feel like a minor league baseball simulator rather than a major league one if gamers don't understand the trick. Aside from leveling up OVR, there are two methods to get called up faster than expected.

Method 1: Choose A Position, Then A Team

There is nothing quite like hearing the new broadcast booth call the player's name for the first time in the major leagues. Those who want to be remembered as the best player at a position of all time should choose a position, then find a team with a need at that spot.

For example, say the player is dead set on becoming the best 3rd baseman ever. The Rockies might be tempted because of the home run power of Coors Field, but they just signed Kris Bryant to a big contract and he's an 85 OVR, which will take the player several years to reach. However, the highest 3rd baseman for the Phillies is a mere 71, which can be topped before the first season is up.

Method 2: Choose a Team, Then A Position

What if instead of being the best at a position, somebody wants to be the best player on a team of all time? The logic is similar. Find the desired team, then analyze their biggest position of need. This is the way gamers can star on their favorite team.

The Padres, for instance, have an excellent team. But if fans of San Diego would like to bring the city its first championship, their highest left fielder is ranked at a paltry 69. Those who choose to play here can get the call early enough in the first season to skip AAA ball entirely.

MLB The Show 22 was released on April 5th, 2022, and is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5.
