One talented member of the modding community shows off a mod for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that causes most items to explode in-game.

p>While The Legend of Zelda franchise has persisted for several decades and has spanned across dozens of games, Ocarina of Time remains one of the most popular entries in the series. Being Zelda's first 3D foray, Ocarina of Time left a strong impact on players that has lasted since the game first launched back in 1998. Now, with a PC version of Ocarina of Time available for players to download, fans have begun modding the game in a variety of ways.

Mods are an integral part of the gaming community because they offer a means by which to breathe new life into just about any game imaginable. Whether it's an open-ended experience like Skyrim or a more simplistic game like Stardew Valley, mods are an excellent way for players to continue to enjoy a game, even after experiencing all that the game has to offer. However, this most recent mod for Ocarina of Time makes the experience significantly more goofy.

Over on YouTube, a user named Josh Busker shows off a mod that causes nearly every interactive item in Ocarina of Time to explode. From rolling into trees to throwing rocks, practically every single interactive element will either explode or shoot bombs out of it. Ever since the release of Ship of Harkinian, the unofficial PC port of Ocarina of Time, it has allowed users to push one of the greatest Zelda games of all time in exciting new directions.

Given Nintendo's penchant for releasing games exclusively on Nintendo systems, it's unlikely that fans would ever see an official PC port of Ocarina of Time. Though, Ship of Harkinian and many other ports have provided players with an efficient way to mod Ocarina of Time, regardless. In addition to this explosion mod, one user created a bizarre mod that replaces all of Ocarina of Time's textures with a picture of Toad's face from the Super Mario Bros. series.

It's amazing how much creativity players can cultivate when given the chance to mod any given game, especially one with as rich a history as Ocarina of Time. The level of attachment that fans have towards this game is astounding, to the point where one user managed to recreate Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for The Legend of Zelda series going forward. Despite the delay of Breath of the Wild 2, many fans have remained excited for what's to come. Given the massive success of the first entry and what has already been shown in trailers so far, Breath of the Wild 2 seems to possess a fair amount of potential.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available on 3DS, Nintendo 64, Switch, and Wii U.
