A new rumor suggests that the next issue of V-Jump magazine in Japan will reveal that the Dragon Ball GT version of Kid Goku is coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ as DLC.

p>Before Akira Toriyama decided to continue the Dragon Ball franchise himself with well-received Dragon Ball Super, a non-canon Dragon Ball Z sequel anime was produced called Dragon Ball GTDragon Ball GT was met with mixed reception from fans, as it made the controversial decision to revert Goku back into a child. While Dragon Ball GT's Kid Goku has never been the franchise's most popular character, it seems as though he is going to enjoy a comeback as DLC for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

According to a now-deleted Japanese blog post, Dragon Ball GT's Kid Goku will be revealed for Dragon Ball FighterZ through the next issue of V-Jump magazine. This has yet to be confirmed or denied by Bandai Namco Entertainment, but V-Jump leaks in the past have been a reliable way for people to get the early scoop on Dragon Ball FighterZ's roster and DLC characters.

What may be confusing about the decision to add the Dragon Ball GT version of Goku to Dragon Ball FighterZ is that a much more popular version of Kid Goku exists and has yet to be added to the game. That version would be the original Goku seen in the Dragon Ball anime and manga, who traveled with Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha, and others in search of the wish-granting seven Dragon Balls. Why Bandai Namco would overlook this version of Kid Goku for the Dragon Ball GT take on the character is unclear at this point.

Assuming the rumor is true and the next issue of V-Jump is in fact confirming Dragon Ball GT Kid Goku for the Dragon Ball FighterZ roster, it's worth pointing out that this would technically be the eighth version of Goku in the game. There's base form Goku, Goku Black, Super Saiyan Goku, SSGSS Goku, and three fusion characters that are partly made up of Goku in the form of Gogeta, Vegito, and Zamasu.

Since Goku is the star of the Dragon Ball franchise, it's not exactly surprising that he is so heavily represented in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Even so, some fans may be anxious to see other Dragon Ball characters added to the roster instead. If Dragon Ball FighterZ is able to maintain its popularity moving forward, then perhaps those missing characters will be added at some point.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
