As seen in the image below, Star Wars Battlefront 2's Naboo map looks to be quite a sizeable space, and it shows what appears to be a portion of the planet under attack, as smoke billows off of fires raging within the center of its thriving hub. According to the hosts of The Star Wars Show, the map is officially called "Assault on Theed," and for those unaware, Theed is the capital city of Naboo.
Recently, it was revealed that DICE and Electronic Arts have planned to offer up a much more in-depth bit of coverage for Assault on Theed, as the companies are set to host a gameplay reveal featuring a 40-player battle on the Naboo map this weekend during E3 2017. The contest will consist of two 20-player teams, with both factions being manned by popular YouTubers and Twitch streaming personalities such as JackFrags, Darkness429, StoneMountain64, and Neebs Gaming.
As it happens, the Assault on Theed map in Star Wars Battlefront 2 isn't the only element from the prequels in the film series that will be making their way into the game. In fact, when the science fiction shooter was officially revealed with its first full-fledged trailer, none other than Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace's antagonist Darth Maul was revealed to be one of the villains playable in the forthcoming title.
Taking all of this into consideration, while the above screenshot indeed appears promising, Star Wars Battlefront 2 fans will likely feel more assured that development is headed in the proper direction once they see Assault on Theed in action during E3. With any luck, DICE and Electronic Arts will also discuss additional details involving the game's single-player campaign during the press conference this weekend.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to release on November 17, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
