As one would expect, fans have been pushing the character creator to its limits, seeing just how much can be done with the tools that Gearbox has provided. This has resulted in the creation of characters from other franchises, such as Marvel’s Thanos, Shrek, and Mortal Kombat icons Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Players have also made characters that look like themselves or designs that are intentionally silly and over-the-top, with players using the non-symmetrical facial features to their full potential.
Using Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ character creator, Reddit user TheStinkyOnes was able to nail an alien-themed Fatemaker. For starters, the game’s fantasy setting allows Gearbox to provide players with more than just human skin colors, with options like green, blue, and purple available to choose from. In the case of this character design, the Redditor went with the color grey, a fitting choice given that their alien is more comparable to traditional alien designs than something like the Xenomorph.
The defining feature of the design is the massive black eyes that the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands player gives their alien. Not only has the gamer made them large, but they have also stuck them to the side of the alien’s face to make it look more accurate to the classic Grey alien design. While they do need to have dark purple irises since they lack the option for fully black eyes, these are only noticeable if gamers look very closely. A thin mouth is also present on the design, and it helps a lot to make the character appear less human.
While gamers cannot fully remove noses from their Wonderlands characters, TheStinkyOnes shrunk their Fatemaker’s nose down so much that it is hardly visible at all. This was a clever change on the fan’s part, as the nose is extremely subtle and almost nonexistent. While some commenters did say that they wished the character creator was more extensive so that they could fully remove noses or have more control over head shape, a lot of the tools available to players are unique and help to make it an excellent tool overall. Due to this, fans give their protagonist designs that would be hard to pull off in other games.
With Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ Season Pass bringing more content to the game, perhaps more cosmetics will be added as well. Based on the options that are in the game already, though, fans can create a pretty convincing alien if they feel like doing so.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
