This dramatic increase in quality will no doubt lead to more sales, which, in turn, means more new players. For those making their first foray into the world of WWE 2K games or longtime fans of the series looking for a refresher, this guide will cover everything that players need to know about WWE 2K22; from unlockable Superstars and arenas to DLC and user-generated content.
Updated March 20, 2022, by Tom Bowen: It's been less than ten days since the retail release of WWE 2K22, and yet there are already tens of thousands of custom creations available for players to download. Better still, due to these community creations being shared across all major platforms, players will have access to every single one of them, regardless of which system they're playing the game on. This guide has been updated to include some of the best custom creations in WWE 2K22 so far, including superstars based on former WWE wrestlers, superheroes and villains, celebrities, and characters from other popular video game franchises.

WWE 2K22 brings with it a few big gameplay changes. The majority of these are covered in the game's optional tutorial, while other, more situational changes tend to be explained on screen if and when players first encounter them. Despite the great effort that the developers have gone to though, both new and returning players may at times find themselves at a bit of a loose end when it comes to completing certain objectives.
This section of the guide will cover all of the basics, with a selection of how-to guides for some of the game's trickier tasks. Players can also expect to find answers to some of the more frequently asked questions here, as well as tips and tricks for both beginners and novice players. Due to all of the changes, returning players may find some of this information useful too, so it might be worth giving it a quick read-through.
With more than 160 Superstars available at launch and another 28 coming soon in the form of DLC, players really are spoiled for choice when it comes to selecting a wrestler in WWE 2K22. Not all of these Superstars are available right from the get-go though, with some instead needing to be unlocked through the store or the game's revamped Showcase mode.
Here, players can find information about all of the unlockable Superstars in WWE 2K22, as well as the many arenas and championships that can be purchased or unlocked. This is also where top tens and other Superstar-centric lists can be found, as well as any news or information specifically related to the soon-to-be-released DLC wrestlers.
Though the game's impressively large roster is perhaps its biggest asset, that's not to say that WWE 2K22 doesn't have other strengths. One of these comes through the game's many game modes and match types, with players able to sink tens, if not hundreds of hours into these varied and expansive modes.
In this section of the guide, players will find information regarding the Showcase, MyRise, MyGM, and MyFaction modes. This is also where information specific to certain match types can be found, including Royal Rumbles, Cage and Ladder matches, and any others that might require a little bit more explanation than the game initially provides.
Perhaps the biggest improvement in WWE 2K22 (aside from the improved stability and greater level of polish) comes in the form of its fantastic customization suite, which allows players to add just about anybody they'd like into the game as a custom Superstar. This can be used to fill any gaps in the game's roster or to add celebrities, superheroes, or sports stars to the roster of playable wrestlers.
As well as guides on how to download custom superstars and portraits, this section of the guide will showcase some of the best community creations in a bid to make it a little easier for players to find the perfect portrayals of the people that they're looking for. Whether that be missing wrestlers like Big Show or superheroes like Spider-Man, they'll all be featured here.
Given how disastrous the launch of WWE 2K20 was, it seems fair to say that WWE 2K22 has already surpassed and outperformed its predecessor, at least in terms of quality and polish, anyway. Whether the game's sales figures will reflect this too remains to be seen though, as too does the potential for additional DLC once the already announced superstars have all been released.
As one might expect, the News & Opinions section will be kept up to date with all of the latest news surrounding the aforementioned topics, as well as information regarding patches and updates. Players can also expect to find opinions here, not only about the game's strengths and weaknesses, but also the impact that they might have on the future of the franchise.
When a new game comes out, it's not at all uncommon for players to encounter bugs and glitches. Fingers crossed, there won't be quite as many of those in WWE 2K22 as there were in the game's predecessor, but those which are shared online will be collected and posted here. It won't all be negative things, however.
This is also where players can read about any impressive feats performed by other players or any custom creations or pieces of artwork that were inspired by the game. Given the target demographic, there's unlikely to be too much of the latter, particularly as custom-created Superstars will be covered elsewhere in the guide, though that's not to say that there won't be any.
WWE 2K22 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
