Microsoft adds two new games to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service to kick off April 2022, including a brand-new, day one release.

p>Xbox Game Pass subscribers have new games to play all the time, as Microsoft is constantly adding new titles to the lineup. Tuesday, April 5 sees the first new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022, as Microsoft has made two games readily available to subscribers.

April 5 sees the release of two sports titles for Game Pass subscribers to check out. First up is Cricket 22, which is now available across cloud and console. Cricket 22 is the latest entry in the series based on the real-life sport, developed by Big Ant Studios and published by Nacon. Cricket 22 has been the subject of controversy as its original cover athlete, Tim Paine, was involved in a scandal and had to be removed. The game also earned negative reviews from critics, so Game Pass subscribers may want to keep that in mind.

The other new sports game added to Xbox Game Pass on April 5 has been much better-received so far. MLB The Show 22 has earned mostly positive reviews from critics, with many hailing it as another solid entry in the long-running MLB The Show franchise.

That isn't to say that MLB The Show 22 is perfect. On the contrary, early access gamers have been running into some unfortunate MLB The Show 22 bugs and glitches that have hampered their experience. One particularly frustrating bug saw MLB The Show 22 marketplace purchases disappear, though hopefully developer San Diego Studio is able to get all the problems sorted out in short order.

Regardless of launch day woes, MLB The Show 22 is still a huge "get" for Xbox Game Pass for a couple of different reasons. For one, MLB The Show 22 is a day one game, meaning Game Pass subscribers have access to a brand-new release without having to pay full price for it like would usually be required. Secondly, MLB The Show 22 is developed by a first-party PlayStation studio and published by Sony, making its status as a day one Xbox Game Pass game even more notable.

Looking ahead, there's plenty more for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to look forward to in the month of April. The new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022 include Chinatown Detective Agency, dropping April 7, plus Life is Strange: True Colors on April 12. Lost in Random, meanwhile, is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate through EA Play.
